Bluewin TV offers high-quality television service via a telephone line. Launched by Swisscom at the beginning of November 2006, it already offers 100-plus television channels, 70-plus radio channels, 500-plus top films (on demand), live sports coverage and up to 30 Teleclub channels. At the touch of a button, users can search for and record programmes, select a programme for later viewing or pause a programme during transmission. Customers are free to decide what to watch and when. All that's needed is a telephone line with broadband Internet access from Swisscom. Bluewin TV does not require a cable connection.
Wider range of foreign channels to be included in basic offering
While the number of standard channels included in some cable network operators' offerings is declining, Bluewin TV already provides a huge selection in its basic package. For example, this includes RAI Uno and Canale 5 for Italian-speaking Switzerland, and France2 and TF1 for French-speaking Switzerland. Swisscom's basic Bluewin TV offering in German also includes WDR and N-TV, two channels that certain cable network providers will be dropping from their analog programmes as of 1 April 2007.
The range of channels offered by Bluewin TV will be expanded in several stages, starting on 1 March 2007.
