The first Swiss schools have already introduced a ban on mobile phones, preventing their pupils from composing SMS messages and downloading videos during class or making endless calls on their mobiles during break times.
 

Mobile phones are not just a disruptive factor in the classroom: they can also result in young people unwittingly clocking up debts, settlement of which often lies with the parents. As an alternative to the mobile phone, pupils can use phone booths or a card/coin payphone in the school building.
