"For me, it was exciting to establish a connection between academic theory and practical application."

file

Nina, you were supported by Swisscom in your master's thesis. What was the subject?
My topic was "HR marketing for university graduates at Swisscom". In addition to coming up with the conceptual basis, I conducted a secondary analysis to identify the tools preferred by students for obtaining information, and the characteristics that make an employer attractive. I found the subject very exciting because it also affected me directly.

What were the expectations on both sides?
I wanted - and got - support from Swisscom in obtaining information. Swisscom wanted to benefit from my thesis in terms of recruiting university graduates. For me, there was a delicate balance between academic theory on the one hand, and coming up with practical insights and structural recommendations for Swisscom on the other.

How would you describe the collaboration with Swisscom?
Our collaboration was very pleasant. At the outset, we agreed on fixed dates to discuss the key chapters. At any time, however, I could spontaneously get in touch with my contact who always made time for me. I always found an open ear for my concerns.

Did your collaboration with Swisscom produce any other benefits other than support for your thesis?
I got to know Swisscom better through the master's thesis. I could exchange ideas with employees, which gave me the opportunity to learn more about the corporate culture and the working environment. I was also presented with the various entry options. As the next step in my career, I will complete a trainee programme at Swisscom.

After this programme, do you think you will have an opportunity at Swisscom to further develop your career?
I can see myself taking on a regular full-time position at Swisscom after the training programme has ended. I am particularly interested in the company's strategic positioning. I would like to work in the area of management.
