The demand for mobile data communication is huge, with the volume of data transmitted over the Swisscom network currently doubling year-on-year. So Swisscom is investing hundreds of millions a year in upgrading the network. HSPA+ technology already offers high bandwidths. But Swisscom is currently testing the fourth-generation mobile communications technology LTE (Long Term Evolution). The LTE network will support transmission speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
