Earthquake catastrophe in Haiti: Swisscom and its employees donate 1 million francs to Swiss Solidarity
This week Swisscom launched a company-wide appeal for the earthquake victims in Haiti. Employees donated a total of 487,000 francs. Swisscom will double that total and donate 513,000 francs, bringing the total donation from Swisscom and its employees to Swiss Solidarity to one million francs.
Swisscom is also waiving call charges to and from Haiti for its customers for the month of January, in an effort to make it as easy as possible for relatives and aid organisations to contact their families and employees in the country.
Swisscom has been supporting Swiss Solidarity for more than 60 years by means of an annual contribution and other in-kind services related to communication. Services provided on the national Swiss Solidarity fundraising day include the call centre infrastructure and the freephone numbers incl. connection charges.
