Swisscom is the leading Swiss telecommunications provider. As a result of fierce competition, the company is faced with constant price and volume erosion. Competition in the network access sector has intensified further due to local loop unbundling, more powerful cable providers with greater bandwidths and fibre optic services offered by electricity suppliers. In addition, new market players are increasingly offering services independent of the networks. The resulting drop in turnover needs to be offset. Swisscom has adopted a business strategy based on the three pillars of “Maximise”, “Broaden” and “Expand”.
