ETH Zurich is a place where 20,000 people from 80 nations study, conduct research and work. More than 400 professors across 16 departments are responsible for the internationally renowned, outstanding teaching and research. Dozens of Swisscom employees graduated from ETH Zurich. The knowledge and technologies developed at the more than 150-year-old university on the Zürichberg are a major driving force in the development of telecommunications. They form the basis of innovations that create demand on the market and also open up interesting business opportunities for Swisscom. The transfer of know-how between researchers and business therefore also plays a key role in securing long-term competitiveness.

To ensure that this will continue in the future, Swisscom is involved in the ETH Zurich Foundation, and Dr Anton Scherrer, Chairman of the Swisscom Ltd Board of Directors, is on the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. The ETH Zurich Foundation was founded under private law in 2003, with a board of trustees and offices in Zurich. Its members have close ties to the ETH.
