Closer and closer to you

Swisscom has been expanding its optical fibre network for several years. First, the centres of towns were linked up. Then the optical fibre network gradually got closer to you, our customers, and reached the distribution boxes in the districts. That means that even now you can take full advantage of high transfer rates on the Internet.

Swisscom began taking its optical fibre network to private homes in autumn 2008. This started in Geneva, Basel and Zurich. Today, Swisscom is rolling out its fibre-optic network in more than 50 cities, municipalities, and cantons, in 21 places with a cooperation partner: Basle, Bellinzona, Berne, Biberist, Derendingen, Dietlikon, Fribourg, Geneva, Gland, Gossau, Herrliberg, Lausanne, Langendorf, Lucerne, Meilen, Nyon, Pfyn, Solothurn, St. Gall, Upper Valais, Winterthur and Zurich. Further towns will follow.
