In association with the myclimate foundation, Swisscom has developed an environmental label for particularly climate-friendly products and services. Products and services bearing the climate recommendation make a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions.

The climate recommendation of Swisscom and myclimate enables climate-friendly products and services to be recognised at first glance. Each recommendation is based on a detailed life cycle assessment – or eco-balance – drawn up by myclimate in accordance with recognised standards. The total CO2 emissions of labelled products are significantly reduced over the entire life cycle – from production to disposal – compared to similar products. The total CO2 emissions produced by labelled services are significantly lower than for current typical behaviour.

Definition of terms:

  • Total CO2 emissions: this comprises greenhouse related emissions from the production, operation and disposal of a product and is expressed in CO2 equivalents.
     
  • Significantly reduced/significantly lower: the total CO2 emissions of a product or service are at least 10% lower than for comparable offerings.
     
  • Current typical behaviour: refers to the usual activities of the majority of the population or companies. Example: travelling to a meeting rather than holding a video conference.
