Electromagnetic radiation is the basis of mobile communication and not just an undesirable by-product. But cordless phones don't need to emit radiation when they are not being used - just as cars don't need to have their motor left running when in the garage. That's why Swisscom has set itself the target of minimising unnecessary radiation. Science cannot completely rule out that there may be an element of risk from radiation - and this causes insecurity in many people. We communicate with our customers and give them clear information about current studies and the state of research.
