In line with the “Industry initiative of the Swiss Association of Telecommunications (asut) for better youth media protection”, Swisscom and other telecoms companies are committed to protecting children and young people from undesirable content when using new media. Swisscom goes one step further: our aim is to improve the protection of minors in the media over and above the statutory framework.

Technical measures in mobile communications

  • Since November 2005, Swisscom has been carrying out an age check on users when they try to access adult content.
  • For youth subscriptions, protection of minors applies up to the age of 18. Swisscom therefore goes beyond the statutory requirements.
  • When adults take out subscriptions for their children, Swisscom blocks adult content.

Technical measures on the Internet

  • Web content screening on the Internet connections of the cantonal educational networks. The cantons can specify which sites or keywords are to be blocked on the school network.
  • Internet business partners are obliged to comply with the regulations governing the protection of minors. Checks are carried out and in the event of a violation of the guidelines, contractual penalties are imposed.
