Explanation about VDSL network expansion for innovative multimedia services
In order to be able to offer you the full functionality of Swisscom TV and guarantee high resolution TV (HDTV), Swisscom is continuously expanding the existing network infrastructure to make it VDSL-compliant (Very High Data Rate Digital Subscriber Line).
This network expansion is not subject to the basic service provision requirements. Swisscom determines the necessary network expansion measures based on uniform criteria such as technology, network architecture, economic viability and topography. This implies that not all areas can be developed with VDSL.
Nevertheless, in order to provide every community with the chance to supplement the network infrastructure with VDSL, we do accept specific requirements of communities for expanding our network and are always ready to discuss the framework conditions and modalities with local community representatives.
Options for expansion and network construction status
Local or regional community representatives can thus contact us about the network construction and the possibilities for expansion. Please send your written request (with the local authority stamp) to the address below. These projects may require in-depth and time-consuming investigations. In some cases, the local authority may have to share the implementation costs.
