Television is changing.

Analogue cable television is gradually being replaced by new digital services from various providers. In future, television services will therefore be provided via your telephone connection, cable network and fibre optics.

What do you need to do?

Let your tenants choose. Cancel the contract for your property with your cable provider and let your tenants choose the provider for their own individual contract for telephony, Internet and TV. The cable network providers are familiar with this procedure and will write to the tenants directly to agree individual contracts once the contract has been cancelled.

The multimedia services are supplied to a central point in the apartment, i.e. the distribution box, by the relevant provider. How can these various services be used in different rooms?

What do you need to do?

Star-shaped Ethernet cabling that leads into each room is strongly recommended for new buildings. Our brochure on home cabling show you various options for cabling an apartment. Of course, you can also receive the appropriate professional support from our specialised dealers in your area.

Fibre optics connection for your property

As an alternative to conventional copper or coax options, Swisscom offers FTTH (fibre to the home) in selected areas and throughout Switzerland for properties of a certain size upwards. Further information can be found by clicking onto the corresponding bar.

In the fibre optics development area

Fibre optics development areas are designated by Swisscom. Building administrations and home owners with properties in a development area, are contacted directly by Swisscom and can conclude a contract for connecting their property to the fibre optics network. This contract was drafted in close collaboration with the Swiss Homeowner Association (HEV).
Various infrastructure providers and other property associations also advocate the contract and recommend their members to accept it.

The contract terms are very attractive if concluded immediately. You receive a free home connection to the fibre optics network and, in most cases, a free fibre optics riser shaft to individual homes. If the contract is not duly signed prior to the planned development, we can no longer guarantee these terms.

Internal cabling to the apartment (the so-called ascending zone) forms part of your property, and its installation is a requirement for the connection to the optical fibre network. As part of the arrangements for the connection of your property all the framework conditions and the concrete connection modalities are recorded in a clearly worded agreement between you and Swisscom.

Outside of the construction areas - FiberSpot


We also offer you the option to connect developments with more than approximately 80 units (apartments or commercial units) directly with fibre optics even outside of the construction areas. This concept is called FiberSpot.

Apart from the required number of units, implementing such a FiberSpot is dependent on the availability of a utility room and the willingness of the owner to connect all apartments with four optical fibres in accordance with the OFCOM guidelines. The owner will receive adequate compensation for the required space in the utility room, the power consumption of the telecommunications equipment and the use of two optical fibres by Swisscom.

What do you need to do?

Contact us in due time to avoid rescheduling costs and give us enough time for planning and for commissioning the equipment. A corresponding agreement should be signed four months before the residents are scheduled to move into the apartment.
