Switzerland has a dense network of public telephone booths. Approxomately 8,100 phones are installed in public areas, railway stations and airports.

Tariffs

Call charges for domestic and foreign calls are based on the official Swisscom tariffs for fixed network and mobile telephony. A basic fee of CHF 0.50 will be charged for each call. Billing is in blocks of CHF 0.10.

The following options are available:

  • Taxcard
  • Credit cards (only possible with new devices)

Pay with coins (CHF and Euro)

You can use coins in approximately 4,000 telephone booths throughout Switzerland.

CHF coins

It is quite simple: Lift the receiver, insert the coins, dial the number and telephone as usual. When the call has finished, unused coins will be ejected. Please read the information on the display depending on the equipment.

Euro coins

Payment with euros works the same as with Swiss coins: Lift the receiver, insert coins and dial the num-ber. Your remaining credit will be displayed in Swiss francs. During your call, you can insert either euros or Swiss francs. If the call has ended, unused coins in both currencies will be ejected. Please read the infor-mation on the display.

Taxcard®

Simply insert the Taxcard® (in CHF 5, CHF 10 and CHF 20 denominations) into the card reader and off you go. You can buy Taxcards in the Swisscom Shop, in the Online Shop, at post offices, kiosks and major railway stations.

Credit cards

Payment by credit card is only possible with the latest generation of Publifon telephone booths. Insert the credit card (Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Diners, JCB) into the card reader, wait for the audio signal and remove the card. Now you can start your conversation.

Phone calls made easy

Cashless calls in Switzerland and abroad. Simple, safe and fast application. Insert the card into the tele-phone equipment and dial the phone number required.
Taxcards are anonymous and transferable.

Taxcards

Select from Chip phone cards in CHF 5, 10 and 20 denominations. No PIN code is required. Call charges are continuously deducted from the card balance. The remaining credit balance is displayed continuously on the telephone display. Please note the expiration date on the reverse.
