Tariffs and tariff surcharges. Surcharge for calls from a mobile. Good to know.


Tariff surcharges are levied for calls from mobile phones to special numbers (value-added service and short numbers). Value-added service numbers include all numbers that start with 0800, 084x, 0900, 0901 or 0906. Additional charges also apply to short numbers that start with 18xy and for the number 1145.
Swisscom levies these surcharges in addition to the connection charges for the corresponding number. You can find information here about the charges that result when you call one of these special numbers.

Charges for calling a domestic special number from your mobile phone

The costs for calling one of the numbers listed below are as follows:

  1. The connection price that is specified by the respective provider of a special number (e.g. SBB Rail Service 0900 300 300 for CHF 1.19/min.).
  2. The tariff surcharge that is charged for calls from a mobile phone to the respective numbers (e.g. for a call from a mobile phone to 090x:
    CHF 0.30/min.).
For example, when you use a mobile phone to make a call to the number 0900 300 300 that lasts 3 min. you pay as follows:
(3 x 1.19) + (3 x 0.30) = CHF 4.47.

Important note for BeFree and Easy BeFree customers:

The connection prices that are specified by the provider for a special number and the tariff surcharge are not included in the BeFree and Easy BeFree flat-rates. Therefore the breakdown of costs listed above also applies to BeFree and Easy BeFree customers.

Connection prices for special numbers

Connection prices for special numbers can be charged in 3 different ways:
  1. The call has a fixed cost (e.g. CHF 10.-/call)
  2. The call is billed using a per-minute rate (e.g. CHF 5.-/min.)
  3. A combination of a basic fee and a per-minute rate (e.g. CHF 10.-/call + CHF 5.-/min; a call that takes 5 min. costs CHF 35.- (10 + (5*5))).
