Swisscom is Switzerland’s leading telecommunications company. Every day, teams and business partners from different locations develop new concepts. The company calculated energy consumption, CO2 emissions, travel time and kilometres required internally for cross-site meetings each year. Swisscom was searching for a solution to reduce expenditure to a minimum.

The answer was found in Microsoft UCC (Unified Communications and Collaboration) with Remote Access Service. UCC comprises telephone and video conferences in HD quality as well as the option to work from home using Home Office.

With these three processes, Swisscom saves 2,300 tonnes of CO2 and 866,039 hours of travel time each year. This is just the beginning, as there are plans to further expand the UCC solution: remote access to the company server or video conferences at the click of a mouse are part of everyday life at Swisscom.
