Alfred Müller AGA new company network built for the future

“Quality that will please property owners for many years to come” is the goal that Alfred Müller AG sets for its 135-odd employees. This prime contractor for the construction and marketing of high-rise properties also requires top quality in terms of its own IT infrastructure. In having Swisscom replace its entire company network (LAN), the company has fully prepared itself to face the challenges of the future.

The fact that Alfred Müller AG handles an increasing number of processes electronically meant that the company’s seven-year-old LAN had reached the limits of its capacity. The company therefore decided to completely overhaul its network to make it more powerful, failsafe and standardised. In addition to this, the company’s IT managers wanted to use the upgraded LAN as a basis for future applications.

New fixed-configuration switches from Nortel form the heart of the new LAN solution, and have vastly increased Ethernet bandwidths from the megabit to the gigabit range. What’s more, the upgraded LAN also has numerous other advantages such as optimum availability, security and quality of service, not to mention compatibility with Voice over IP, wireless LAN and Power over Ethernet. “We’re now equipped for the next five years” is how one of the company’s IT managers describes the main benefits of the highly successful solution.
