Media ConnectFull speed ahead on the data network with APM


MediaConnect S.A. is a subsidiary of Publicitas and Swiss national news agency SDA. It transmits the advertisement information of customers at its head office in Lausanne, as well as at around 120 other sites. Swisscom's new Application Performance Management (APM) service has enabled the company to achieve a sustainable improvement in the performance of its data network.

In the past, those responsible at MediaConnect regularly had a lot to worry about when large data volumes had to be transmitted during peak times. Although the data network had sufficient available bandwidth, excessive server response times had a detrimental effect on the functionality of important applications. The unfortunate result was interruptions to business processes.

MediaConnect wanted to achieve an increase in network performance without having to invest in the expansion of bandwidths. With the implementation of Application Performance Management (APM), Swisscom has met both of these requirements – within a remarkably short time. Thanks to the prioritisation of the most important applications in the network by APM, data traffic bottlenecks have been eliminated. What’s more, the service provides complete transparency regarding all activities in the network.
