Four out of five Swiss pharmacies use the services of the professional association Ofac, therefore relieving themselves of numerous administrative tasks. Ofac processes around 15 million prescriptions and invoices per year and also offers pharmacies intelligent online applications. Uninterrupted access to data and applications is the top priority.
The interruption risk was too great with a single computer centre. This is why Ofac commissioned Swisscom to implement a disaster recovery concept, with a maximum recovery time of one hour – a real challenge.
A second server site enables Swisscom to ensure the highest possible level of availability of information and applications. Both sites are permanently active and connected to the Swisscom site concurrently. Customers communicate with Ofac via this site, and all data is archived here. All sites are redundantly interconnected with each other via ethernet or fibre channels from Swisscom Opticallink Services. The new solution offers Ofac customers the greatest performance and availability.
