PHBern is comprised of eleven organisational units at seven sites. Around 2,500 people train here to be teachers, while around 20,000 teachers annually attend further training events. Internal communication between the over 1,000 people employed here plays a decisive role in being able to tackle daily challenges.
As part of the restructuring process in 2005, the management were looking, amongst other things, for a solution to combine voice and data traffic. With VoIP (Voice over IP), the university has chosen a forward-thinking solution. The new telephone system offers all the advantages of convergent usage of the data network.
A sizeable number of calls are made between the staff at the institution. Therefore, the disappearance of call charges is very welcome there. In addition, VoIP offers users high flexibility, for instance in the case of relocation or the installation of new workplaces. Where it would have previously been necessary to call in a service technician, users now operate independently. The staff at the university are also pleased that the phones are so easy to use, and highly reliable.
«We feel that Swisscom employees are really prepared to act upon our requests.»
Erich Schmid, head of administration PHBern
Swisscom One Phone Business draws together fixed-network and mobile telephony in a single device. You can be contacted via a single phone number – in the office, or on the move. All PBX functions are available at all times.
For an individual, tailored communication solution; the existing communication system is migrated to a VoIP system, either step by step or in one go, and is integrated in an overall concept.
