FAQs

General questions about the application process

Apprenticeships are usually advertised from 1 August onwards. For retail training programmes, they are published later, from 1 September onwards. You can apply via the job portal from these dates.

At Swisscom, people come before paperwork, which means you don't need to submit school reports or grade point averages. What matters is who you are, not just what's on paper.

You no longer need to submit a full application package. Simply provide your contact details via the job posting and you will receive further information. At the first stage, your CV is sufficient. A cover letter is not required.

Of course, but in a different way: instead of traditional taster courses, we offer information and experience days. In retail in particular, you may be able to do a traditional taster course in a shop if you ask in person. You can find more information about our offers here.

We only consider one application per person. If you submit multiple applications, you will be asked which profession you prefer. Only this application will then be considered.

A secondary school leaving certificate or grammar school diploma is required for PIBS and Way-Up programmes. Without this qualification, we recommend applying for a regular apprenticeship.

Swisscom usually responds within 15 working days of receiving your application, with feedback and information on the next steps in your personal profile.

Error messages

You can reach us on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on our free hotline: 0800 55 9000.

Job advertisement

If the job posting lists “Bern, Olten, Lucerne”, your place of work will be in one of these locations. The final location is determined by the vocational school closest to you.

If you can no longer find the apprenticeship advertisement on our job portal, it means that we have already filled these apprenticeship positions.

Please only apply for apprenticeships in your region of residence. Unfortunately, we have to reject applications for other regions due to the long commuting distances.

Unsolicited application

Unfortunately, we cannot consider unsolicited applications. Please apply only for specific apprenticeships via our job portal(opens in new tab).

Job interview

At Swisscom, everyone is on a first-name basis – from apprentices to the CEO. This already applies during the application process.

Before starting the interview, check that everything is working properly (audio and video). Then simply be yourself – this helps us assess whether you’re a good fit for Swisscom.

At a NEX Day, you will visit Swisscom together with other applicants. Our goal is to assess whether you have the skills and abilities required for the apprenticeship, as well as whether you would feel at home at Swisscom and within our unique training model, and whether you can develop your potential with us.

You will complete various tasks and answer a range of questions. At the same time, you will of course have the opportunity to ask your own questions and find out whether Swisscom is the right fit for you.

After submitting your application, you will first receive an email with information and tips on how to prepare for the video application. You will then receive a second email with a link to your video application, which is a kind of delayed interview.

In this interview, you will answer several questions. Your responses will be evaluated independently by at least two people. You may then be invited to a NEX Day (or Junior Experience Day in a shop).

The video interview cannot be repeated in order to ensure fair conditions for all applicants.

The only exception is in the event of technical issues. In this case, you can contact us by email at next.generation@swisscom.com

After the video interview, your application is reviewed using the dual control principle. As we receive a high number of applications, this process may take some time.

Once a decision has been made, we will inform you by email or phone. Applications are processed in the order in which they are received.

Data protection

We use your data exclusively for the application process. After one year, all your documents will be automatically deleted.
