In our "Talents on the Move" series, we introduce you to former and current Swisscom talents who have benefited from our internal talent programme "SCALE". In a year-long learning journey and beyond, our SCALE participants develop both personally and professionally. Today we introduce Sabine Denneborg. She is Programme Manager and Epic Owner Phaseouts at Swisscom.
As head of a department in the B2C division with direct customer contact, Sabine made the move to the "IT, Network & Infrastructure" organisational unit, or INI for short. In 2020, she started one of Swisscom's most extensive programmes: the phaseout of the copper network. In addition to technical units, this also includes all customer-facing areas. "It was a challenge to build up technical knowledge and at the same time achieve a fast ramp-up curve in the complex tasks with overarching responsibility for topics, financial resources and a team with very heterogeneous interests," says Sabine.
"Before I started my new job, I was largely unfamiliar with the technical field. And my Swisscom network at INI was pretty small, apart from the few colleagues I knew from the SCALE programme. Discussions with these SCALE colleagues were particularly valuable for me to get an initial overview before I started and to learn some of the internal details in an unpackaged way," says Sabine.
SCALE also helped her to become aware of her strengths and weaknesses. "During the SCALE programme, I took a very close look at what I want to achieve, what I want to learn and which strengths will help me to do so. My resources lie in leading heterogeneous teams, creating a common basis of interest, setting things in motion despite limiting factors and familiarising myself quickly with new topics. These are good prerequisites for venturing into a specialised field that is still unfamiliar to me," she says.
SCALE offers an opportunity to lay the foundations for your own further development. The programme offers numerous opportunities to network, gain internal visibility and develop horizontally and / or vertically across departments. An opportunity that should definitely be seized!
