When you’re underwater, it’s trust, not courage, that matters. If a shark or an orca swims up to me, a wordless dialogue ensues, a moment of presence, respect, reverence and instinct. Encounters such as these cannot be forced. They happen when everything is right.

When you’re underwater with predators, there’s no time for lengthy analysis: decisions are taken in milliseconds. These experiences have an impact on my daily life. In my professional life, they strengthen my intuition for people, for dynamics and for the right moment. I have worked at Swisscom for 20 years, ever since I was an IT apprentice, and I value the opportunities for development, the trust, and the freedom to combine my career with my hobby.

I’m currently taking photos for a nature documentary that will be published on a streaming platform. Biodiversity is dwindling – and I want to show what we have to lose.
