Fibre-optic network expansion

  • More bandwidth for the whole of Switzerland

The largest fibre-optic network in Switzerland is growing all the time. By 2021, each and every one of Switzerland’s 2,202 communities will have access to highspeed Internet with bandwidths of at least 80 Mbit/s – in most cases significantly more. By 2025, Swisscom will also double its fibre-optic coverage to around 60% of homes and businesses. We are investing more than CHF 1.6 billion in this every year. Discover when your community will be connected to fibre.

Frequently asked questions

When will expansion go ahead in my community?

Swisscom aims to expand the network in all Swiss communities by the end of 2021. As soon as the details are finalised for your community, it will be displayed in the network expansion map and availability checker. If the expansion date is still pending, you can have us notify you as soon as planning is finalised.

The community network next to us has been expanded, but not mine. Why not?

The map says I have up to 500 Mbit/s speed, but my availability check gives me only 40 Mbit/s. Which is right?

Why can’t Swisscom tell me exactly when the network will be expanded in my community?

Why are we only getting FTTS/B and not FTTH in my community?

Who pays for network expansion?

Is the network just for Swisscom products or other providers as well?
