A company can only enjoy long-term success if it accepts responsibility for the environment and society. How does Swisscom do this? Investors, analysts and, of course, our customers are interested in this question. Swisscom sets itself clear corporate responsibility objectives and makes them public. We work on a daily basis to ensure that we achieve our objectives and constantly monitor our progress.
We are continuously developing our strategic CR priorities in cooperation with all stakeholders. This is achieved through an ongoing dialogue between members of the Group Executive Board and leading figures from the various stakeholder groups. For instance, we have had discussions with WWF Switzerland on promoting a sustainable lifestyle and ZEWO-certified NGOs on social sustainability.
We operate in a sustainable manner. We comply with statutory requirements and use established management systems and approaches to reduce environmental, business and social risks. We focus on potential for improving the company’s performance. Group directives and instruction ensure that Corporate Responsibility requirements are taken into account in operations and projects, for example:
We report to our stakeholders on our economic, social and ecological achievements. This sustainability report is an integral component of annual reporting. The principles of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) provide the reference for its content focus. GRI is the leading global standard for corporate sustainability reporting. Our reporting complies with the highest transparency level and is conceived in line with the “comprehensive” option of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI 4).
We subject the entire organisation to regular inspection and certification by eminent independent examination bodies like the SGS. All our activities comply with or exceed customary industrial standards and norms like e.g. ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental management, ISO 27001 for information security management, ISO 14064 for the verification of greenhouse gas emissions or ISO 33002 for processes.
