Renzo Simoni has been a member of the Swisscom Board of Directors as a representative of the Swiss Confederation since 2017. In 1985, after completing his degree in civil engineering at the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, he began his career in building construction and civil engineering at Gruner Gruppe. In 1989, he returned to the Federal Institute of Technology as a scientific assistant. In 1995, he joined Ernst Basler und Partner as a civil engineering consultant while continuing as a part-time lecturer for the Federal Institute of Technology. In 2002, he joined the Management Board of Helbling Beratung und Bauplanung. From 2007 to 2017, he was Chairman of the Management Board of AlpTransit Gotthard AG, responsible for leading the construction of the Gotthard Base Tunnel, one of the most challenging infrastructure projects in Switzerland to date. He currently serves on the board of directors of various companies.
