The 23 founding members of the Global Trading Web Association - which in addition to Conextrade includes leading companies such as Commerce One, Concert, Deutsche Telekom and Covisint, the joint B2B portal of General Motors, Ford and DaimlerChrysler - purchase in excess of 1 billion US$ worth of goods and services per annum. The purchasers and suppliers of indirect goods connected to the Conextrade electronic market-place receive direct access to this global trading association thanks to the open system architecture.
Global Trading Web Association - a global marketplace The Global Trading Web is a global marketplace with the objective of removing trade barriers and creating the economic, technical and legal conditions necessary for unrestricted electronic trade. By signing the arti-cles of association, the founding members commit themselves to the development and use of rules, stan-dards and services which permit efficient, secure trade of goods and services via the Internet. Intensive ex-change of experience within the global network has enabled new services to be jointly developed and their time-to-market to be shortened considerably.
Conextrade: Swisscom´s most important initiative in B2B E-Commerce Owing to its innovative prowess with respect to the development of specific business services and multilingual applications, Conextrade is assuming a pioneering role within the Global Trading Web. Conextrade aims to ensure that global B2B e-commerce soon becomes reality for market users in Switzerland and other European countries.
Based on the e-business solutions of Commerce One, Conextrade provides innovative services for purchasers and suppliers of indirect goods and the operators of vertical marketplaces. Conextrade is Swisscom´s most important initiative in the B2B e-commerce growth market and should contribute considerably towards gen-erating value for the company. With million-dollar investments earmarked for 2000, Conextrade is aiming to achieve rapid growth with respect to the number of market users, revenues, services, new partnerships, for example with financial services, and joint ventures with other marketplaces.
