Jürg Marx, a member of Swisscom's board of management and head of the human resources (HR) division, has decided to step down from these positions as from end-September 2000. He will continue to advise the CEO on HR matters until the end of the year. Mr Marx, who has been in charge of human resources since 1999, cites the resolution passed on 24 Aug. this year to transform Swisscom from a parent company into a group as his reason for seeking a new challenge.
One of the consequences of Swisscom´s conversion into a group structure is that the human resources division will be assigned a headquarters function. A considerable portion of the operations currently handled by the HR division will be transferred to other group units and companies. Mr Marx has clearly supported the move to create a group structure.
The directors and senior management of Swisscom regret Mr Marx´s decision and thank him warmly for his invaluable cooperation and skill.
