From 1 September, anyone can play the regular cashless SWISS LOTTO and Joker games via Internet at any time. The Swiss Internet lottery project was implemented by Swisscom on behalf of the Swiss lottery. Now the pilot phase has been successfully concluded.
Swiss Internet lottery is a convenient electronic kiosk that is directly connected to the system of the Sport Gaming Company (Sport Toto-Gesellschaft) in Basle. Players can take part at any time irrespective of where they are. Around 6200 pilot users have tested the system over the last three months, spending more than 240,000 Swiss francs, which represents a considerable amount in Swiss e-commerce. More than 800 lucky winners have already picked up a win.
The game in three languages at www.swisslotto.ch is available to anyone without a special access pass-word. Each player has his own account which includes a password. At the moment, SWISS LOTTO and Joker games can only be paid for using creditcards with an SET (secure electronic transaction) contract, via Yellow Net or using a paying-in slip. Other methods of payment (e.g. inclusion of customer cards, tele-banking etc.) are being prepared.
The Swiss Lottery Company (Gesellschaft Schweizer Zahlenlotto) has found an ideal outsourcing partner in Swisscom which provides a complete e-commerce infrastructure in addition to developing the application. Swisscom also assumes responsibility for the entire business from customer acquisition and customer care to finding partners and payment processing. With high-end application solution providing (ASP), Swisscom is the only operator in Switzerland able to implement a complete solution of this kind.
