Innovative firms on the conextrade marketplace in record time

13 December 2000

Conextrade, Switzerland"s leading business-to-business market place, can chalk up another success thanks to its partnership with the company Huber+Suhner. Using an Application Service Provisioning (ASP) operated eProcurement solution from conextrade, Huber+Suhner is able to optimise procurement management of C-items. Pilot operations began just three months after the project was initiated.

The suppliers´ catalogue will initially comprise the main product ranges of the companies aepli office & promotion and Maag Technik. Additional products from Maag Technic AG, aepli office & promotion, SFS Unimarket, Brütsch Rüegger, 2W and Grossauer Elektro-Handels AG are expected to be integrated by the end of the year. These companies were quick to realise that online market places could optimise the procurement process for C-items, while at the same time reduce costs. C-items make up a large part of the goods purchased, are ideal for presenting in catalogues and so enable significant savings to be made when purchased via en electronic market place.

As an applications service provider, Conextrade implements, operates and maintains the electronic procurement solution "BuySite Hosted Edition" and provides access to the electronic market place. Conextrade is also responsible for connecting suppliers and preparing the catalogue. Other conextrade services include staff training at Huber+Suhner and the creation of a file containing the necessary order data for integration into the existing ERP system. Electronic C-item procurement is based on a software solution from Commerce One.

35 buyers integrated in the pilot tests

35 Huber+Suhner employees are involved in the pilot tests as buyers and will have direct access to the supplier´s catalogue and be able to place orders. They will follow an electronically supported approval procedure before orders are placed with the suppliers.

Huber+Suhner expects to gain experience from the pilot tests before the company-wide implementation of the electronic procurement solution. The company is already expecting to see a reduction in process costs and processing times during the pilot tests.

Conextrade operates Switzerland´s leading electronic B2B-market place. The market place´s compatibility with a variety of standards and the use of the latest technology enables eProcurement solutions to be implemented rapidly in companies of all sizes and branches. Conextrade provides strategic and operative support for the entire value-added business chain. A competent network of partners safeguards the implementation of company-wide purchasing solutions right up to the setting up and operation of portals.
