Swisscom with newly designed stand at Orbit/Comdex Europe 2001

12 September 2001

Swisscom´s presentation at Orbit/Comdex - the Group´s most important trade fair - will be very different this year. The company´s core values - reliability, strong home base, international outlook and respect - have been incorporated into the design of the stand, which covers some 450 square metres. The use of wood, stone and plants are intended to convey to visitors the feeling of nature, peace and security, origin and home roots. The stand, built in the form of a "piazza" and bordered on all sides by the individual business lines, is designed to reflect the new Swisscom corporate structure. The Swisscom stand is located in Hall 1.1.

The key themes at this year´s Orbit are: "Innovative Business Lines", "Business Solutions for the Workplace" and "Full Service Provisioning". To this end, Swisscom Enterprise Solutions, Swisscom Mobile, Swisscom Systems and Swisscom Fixnet will present their latest developments, services and networking solutions.

Swisscom Enterprise Solutions: comprehensive solutions for corporate customers

A partner who is also in a position to deliver complex and cost-effective telecoms and IT projects. In other words, a partner which assumes responsibility for the entire engineering project. From consulting, planning and project management through to implementation, operation and maintenance.

An excellent range of online services allow customers to call up information on the current status of their firewall at any time.

Swisscom Mobile: access to Office applications anytime even while on the move

The mobile society has not only had a major influence on private households but also, more importantly, on companies. Swisscom Mobile has recognised this trend and at Orbit 2001 will focus on presenting data applications tailored specifically to the needs of the business community. As Swiss market leader, Swisscom Mobile is concentrating on its high-quality NATELÒ network as the company´s core competence, and entering into partnerships where necessary with leading IT suppliers. The company´s latest offering "Business goes mobile" involves partners such as Compaq, Microsoft and SAP. The key advantage to Swisscom Mobile customers is that they only need deal with one professional contact partner for their mobile solutions. Already today "Business goes mobile" allows users to read and edit business e-mails and call up appointments calendars or company-internal telephone directories for example via their mobile phone. It is also possible to update data via laptop or PDA while on the move. Depending on the needs of the customer, high-speed technologies like HSCSD are already in use and GPRS is expected to be introduced very shortly. Visitors to the Swisscom Mobile stand at Orbit will be able to try out the various applications and networking technologies.

Swisscom Systems covers the full spectrum of services for communication systems

Swisscom Systems provides all the services associated with a communications system. Customers range from small and mid-sized businesses to companies with an extensive branch network. As Swiss market leader, Swisscom Systems, together with its distribution partners, is the only provider to cover the full range of services for communications systems: from products, services and maintenance to financing with purchase, rental or leasing options. Companies wishing to focus on core business will be impressed by the outsourcing solutions presented by Swisscom Systems at this year´s Orbit. Thanks to cooperation with leading manufacturers, Swisscom Systems´ market offerings are always state-of-the-art and ensure long-term protection of investment. One example, which will also be on show at Orbit, is the BCM (Business Communications Manager) from Nortel Networks.

Swisscom Fixnet offers SMS

Swisscom is the first telecoms provider in Switzerland to offer fixed-line SMS. Since 1 August 2001 Swisscom customers have been able to exchange SMS messages via fixed-line telephones and to use the ETV®Online function to identify unknown numbers. Prerequisites are an ISDN line (now called MultiLINEISDN) and an ISDN-enabled telephone. During the introductory phase from 1 August to 30 September 2001 Swisscom is offering customers free use of SMS in the fixed network and ETV ®Online. With this customer-friendly innovation Swisscom is looking to expand its position as the leading full-service telecoms supplier. SMS messages can now be sent and received quickly and simply from the home or the office. Sending and receiving SMS messages over an SMS-enabled ISDN phone is extremely easy. A further advantage: ISDN customers are not only able to read the number of the caller on the display but can also identify the name of the number holder within seconds at the touch of a button using ETV®Online.

High-speed Internet access from Bluewin at Orbit/Comdex

High-speed Internet access is opening up a whole new range of opportunities in the World Wide Web. Bluewin, Switzerland´s leading Internet service provider, will demonstrate the use of ADSL technology for high-speed surfing on the Internet at Orbit/Comdex in Hall 3, Stand E60. In an area covering 300m² ten PC workstations will be available for visitors to experience high-speed surfing for themselves. A presenter will provide regular demonstrations of Bluewin´s service offerings. Specialist customer advisors will be on hand to talk about hosting, domaining and e-communication; customer care staff will also be available. Other highlights on the Bluewin stand: "HostCenter", which allows every company to have an Internet presence without having to have their own infrastructure; and "NameCenter", which is currently the most comprehensive Domain Shopping Center in Switzerland and comes with an easy-to-use domain management tool.
