Swisscom´s extraordinary financial commitment makes an important contribution to preserve the good reputation of Switzerland, Swisscom´s home market, as a good location for business. The company is taking notice of the extraordinary situation. The air traffic has special importance for the Swiss economy and also for Swisscom as the nation´s leading telecommunications provider.
The commitment to the airline, which is purely financial, does not change the company´s strategy: Swisscom will concentrate on its core businesses of fixed-line services and network operation, mobile communications and e-business. Swisscom is currently examining acquisition options in the fields of data communications and mobile service providing. A share buy-back scheme also remains an option.
