With Public Wireless LAN (PWLAN), Swisscom Mobile provides high-speed, mobile access to the Internet and e-mail services. Fifteen hotspots (see list at the end of this press release) offer media representatives as well as visitors to St. Moritz broadband wireless access to the Internet. Journalists, for example, can even send digital images around the world direct from the ski slopes via laptop or pocket PC equipped with a WLAN card. The costs for PWLAN are either included in the monthly NATEL® bill or can be paid by value cards. In St. Moritz Swisscom Mobile will be selling value cards for 436 hours of PWLAN access exclusively for CHF 198 (valid for the duration of the World Ski Championships).
Swisscom Mobile is also offering customers two results services during the championships. The SMS results service reports interim results after each race as well as final results and championship news updates. You can either call up individual SMS reports or subscribe to the service. To subscribe: Send SKI START via SMS to Number 164. To cancel the service, send SKI STOP to Number 164. Individual reports: Send SKI to Number 164. A received SMS message costs CHF 0.40.
In conjunction with Sport 164 Swisscom Mobile is launching a premiere in the form of an MMS results service. Starting 2 February 2003, anyone with an MMS-enabled mobile phone can have the race results sent to their mobile together with photos of the stars. Altogether they will receive 2 - 5 MMS messages a day. This service is free to Swisscom Mobile customers during the World Alpine Ski Championships. To subscribe: Send START MMS D via SMS to Number 164. To cancel the service, send STOP MMS D to Number 164.
