The restructuring measures announced for Swisscom Systems on 13 January 2003, will be implemented according to plan: Swisscom Systems is outsourcing non-core business activities. For the small PBX business the company is seeking firms who are interested in carrying out repairs on behalf of Swisscom Systems and performing installation work independently. The call for tender is aimed at all Swisscom Systems partners, including some 1,600 specialist dealers throughout Switzerland.
Activities will be outsourced to specialist dealers who meet the quality requirements for the small PBX segment. Swisscom Systems will continue to provide all specialist dealers with support in installing new small PBXs. Services contracted to customers will be delivered by the service partners.
In addition to outsourcing these activities, Swisscom Systems intends to refer employees active in this segment to the new service partners. Swisscom Systems will also provide employees who opt for self-employment in the form of a management buyout with support in realizing their business idea and setting up as an independent service partner. As already announced, Swisscom Systems plans to shed 110 jobs in the small PBX area. These plans remain unchanged.
