Orbit/Comdex 2003: Mobile Office and ADSL for SMEs
15 August 2003
Swisscom Mobile: With Sauber Petronas at Orbit 2003 As the official partner of Sauber Petronas, Swisscom Mobile (Hall 1.1, Stand A10) will this year be offering a special attraction: A Sauber Formula 1 racing car will be on show at a special stand. Here visitors will be able to find out about the latest mobile office solutions by talking to specialists from Swisscom Mobile partners Siemens, Cisco, IBM, Hewlett-Packard and Sony Ericsson.
And products and solutions for the mobile office will also form an important feature of Swisscom Mobile's other exhibition offerings. Public Wireless LAN provides customers at over 200 hotspots with wireless high-speed Internet access. And BlackBerry® users are provided with an "always on" connection via GPRS. This combines a mobile phone and organiser in one device. E-mails and appointment queries are automatically sent to the mobile device using the Push function. Corporate Office Access allows companies to provide their mobile employees with access to the corporate network with e-mails, organiser, to-do lists, contacts and company data when on the move.
A particularly fast, easy and efficient way to send messages is Desktop SMS. This allows SMS messages to be composed at the computer and sent to up to 100 recipients per message. The software is provided free of charge by Swisscom Mobile and can be used on all PCs with Internet access and Microsoft Outlook®.
Swisscom Fixnet (Hall 1.1, Stand A10) in conjunction with Bluewin is offering all SMEs convenient Internet access. Gateway ADSL is a subscription that can be tailored to individual needs. SMEs can choose between speeds of 512, 1024 and 2048 kbit/s. Over the last few months the performance capacity of the Swisscom broadband network has been increased by up to 50 percent. Since the start of August ADSL business customers of Swisscom Fixnet have also been able to benefit from this. Swisscom Fixnet's ADSL offering is rounded off with a special offer for SMEs.
The new Swisscom Fixnet terminals will also be on show at the Orbit: the Classic T220, Top320 and Top337 telephones and the Multitalent Classic MF 100, with integrated fax facility, colour printer, photocopier and colour scanner. In addition, Swisscom Fixnet will be showing how it is able to cooperate with its 3'600 partners thanks to ISDN. And another presentation will provide an insight into the activities of the Customer Care Hotline (0800 800 800).
As one of the leading producers of telephone directories in Switzerland with a total of six million residential and business customers, Swisscom Directories (Hall 1.1, Stand B20) offers a range of directory products. Directories will be presenting an online innovation at the Orbit: the Directories online address book. This personal electronic address book automatically updates the addresses entered without the need for any action on the part of the user. Updating takes place via the Directories address database and the address book can be accessed via a PC, mobile phone or PDA.
