Millions of mobile customers can now pay conveniently for Swisscom Eurospot services using their mobile phone

18 November 2003

Millions of debitel mobile phone subscribers can now use their handset to pay for Internet access at Swisscom Eurospot Hotspots in Germany. Swisscom Eurospot is the leading provider of broadband Internet access for business travellers in Europe.

Business travellers in particular appreciate the broadband Internet access provided by Swisscom Eurospot, which allows them to send and receive e-mails, surf the Internet and call up data quickly and wirelessly on their Notebooks at hotels, airports and congress centres. As the leading provider, Swisscom Eurospot already offers this service at over 250 locations (known as Hotspots) in Germany, and new ones are being added every day. The active Hotspots include renowned hotel chains such as Hilton, Kempinski, Holiday Inn, Lindner, Steigenberger, Mövenpick and Althoff as well as a number of airports.

As has already been the case with O2 subscribers for a short time, debitel subscribers in Germany can now also pay for Internet access at German Hotspots operated by Swisscom Eurospot easily and conveniently via their monthly mobile bill: After entering his or her mobile number, the customer receives a code by SMS with which he or she can access the Internet.

Frédéric Gastaldo, CEO of Swisscom Eurospot Ltd, is convinced of the benefits of the debitel partnership for customers: "Invoicing via the mobile bill offers the customer a high level of convenience."

Peter Wagner, CEO of debitel AG, agrees: "Alongside the largest Hotspot network in Germany, our customers will in future also benefit from simple invoicing via their monthly mobile bill.
