Günter Pfeiffer to become the new Head of Group Human Resources at Swisscom

Günter Pfeiffer is to become the new Head of Group Human Resources (HR) and a member of the Group Executive Board of Swisscom Ltd. He replaces Ueli Dietiker, who has been heading Group HR on an interim basis since the middle of 2003 in addition to his role as Chief Financial Officer. Günter Pfeiffer is currently Head of Participation Management in the Strategy & Group Steering unit at Group Headquarters. He will take up his new position on 1 June 2004.

Günter Pfeiffer studied economics at the University of Bonn before going on to complete his doctorate (Dr. rer.pol.) at the University of Cologne. Between 1988 and 1999 he held management positions at a number of German companies including Detecon, T-Mobile and VEBA Telecom. Mr Pfeiffer joined Swisscom in January 2000 as Head of Participation Management in what was then the Strategy & International unit. He is married and a German citizen.

In his role as Head of Group Human Resources, Günter Pfeiffer will be a member of the Group Executive Board of Swisscom Ltd. The 45-year old economist  possesses a comprehensive knowledge of economics and business administration, solid management experience and excellent industry know-how. The core task of Group Human Resources is to oversee the strategic HR management of the entire Swisscom Group, focusing in particular on personnel policy, the development of top management, the definition of HR standards for all employees, social partnership and apprentice training.
