On 1 June 2004, Swisscom Fixnet is launching a new means of payment in Switzerland - Easypay. Easypay is a simple and secure prepaid payment method (prepaid card) for small sums of money on the Internet and Swisscom's first offering as an all-round provider of e- and m-commerce payment solutions.
Customers looking for a simple and secure means of payment for Internet offerings can use Easypay to pay for information services, online advertisements, dating services, games and entertainment offerings.
To pay for a product or service on the Internet by Easypay, customers select Easypay as the method of payment in the participating Internet shops, enter their Easypay number in the window on the provider's website and confirm with "ok". The purchase price is then deducted from the current card balance. This simple means of payment guarantees a high level of security, since no personal data such as name, credit card or account numbers are divulged. Payment using a mobile phone is just as easy and secure and requires just a one-time registration.
Easypay is available in denominations of CHF 25, CHF 50 and CHF 75 from all Swisscom Shops, Swisscom eShop, Naville Kiosks, from 14 June from all K-Kiosks, from 21 June from all main post offices and from 1 November from all SBB ticket machines (with touchscreen).
Easypay is Swisscom's first step towards offering third party companies in e- and m-commerce a prepaid means of payment for small sums of money. Before the end of the year, Swisscom will be launching a comprehensive payment solution that can be deployed for both small and large sums of money using prepaid and postpaid payment methods.
