10 August 2004

Swisscom Mobile is launching a number of mobile data services to coincide with the Athens Olympics. As a result of a collaboration with SRG SSR idée suisse and Sport 164, the latest Olympics news will be posted on Vodafone live! and the mobile portal of Swisscom Mobile. Plus: Swisscom Mobile customers will now be able to download video clips of an event only a few minutes after it has taken place.

The opening ceremony for the 2004 Olympics will be held in Athens on 13 August 2004. From then on, Swisscom Mobile will be offering a wide range of attractive mobile data services. In collaboration with SRG SSR idée suisse, Swisscom Mobile will be providing a brand new type of service on a trial basis: the ability to download video and audio clips to Vodafone live! and the mobile portal of Swisscom Mobile only minutes after the event has taken place. Ranging from current events to highlights of the day and interviews, the video and audio clips are available in German, French and Italian and can be downloaded to the following phones:  Sharp GX20/GX30, Sony Ericsson K700i, P900, and Nokia 6600 and 3650. The cost per clip is CHF 0.80.

Updates on all the events are guaranteed thanks to the cooperation between Sport 164 and Swisscom Mobile. Mobile phone users can follow the excitement live with the Sport 164 live ticker. On top of this, a range of SMS and MMS services will be delivering results, background information and the latest pictures from Athens. Swisscom Mobile customers can choose from a variety of SMS and MMS subscription categories, for example "SMS Breaking News" (approximately five SMS messages a day at CHF 0.50 per SMS) or "MMS People" (approximately one MMS per day at CHF 1.20 per MMS).

Other products inspired by the Olympics (e.g. games and ringtones) are available now on Vodafone live! and the mobile portal of Swisscom Mobile under the heading "Top&Neu"?, subheading "Olympia 2004".
