Berne, 28 October 2004
A few months ago, the Swiss Confederation and cantons launched an online auction system for issuing tenders and awarding public contracts. Swisscom IT Services was awarded the contract together with its partner ventasoft, and was commissioned by the Swiss authorities to build the simap2 e-auction platform and operate it for the next four years. Swisscom IT Services came out top when it came to meeting the required criteria, and produced a convincing concept for implementation and operation.
The Swiss online auction platform will make the auctioning of public contracts more efficient and cost-effective. The platform will be available to the central government, cantons, local authorities and bidders free of charge. The first pilot customers will be able to use the platform in spring 2005 as public contractors and private bidders, and from autumn 2005 the platform will be available to all users.
ventasoft is Germany's leading provider of an Internet-based e-auction platform for construction and delivery services, and offers the only auction solution with the ava-sign bidder software certified in accordance with the German Signatures Act and approved by the German Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications and Post (RegTP). Customers of ventasoft GmbH include the federal Länder of Bavaria and Berlin, as well as Deutsche Telekom AG.
