Press release

Urs Eng appointed CEO of Accarda AG

01 September 2005

Urs Eng has been appointed CEO of Swisscom subsidiary Accarda AG with effect from 1 September 2005. He will take over operational management from Chairman of the Board of Directors Jürg Rötheli.

Accarda AG was founded on 21 June 2005 and took over the business activities of the former Billag Card Services AG. Now that Accarda's new strategic focus has been defined, Jürg Rötheli, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Accarda and member of the Swisscom AG Executive Board, will hand over operational management of Accarda to Urs Eng. Eng has had a decisive impact on the development of Billag and Accarda in the last two years, first as Head of Marketing & Business Development, then as Head of Operations, and, since February of this year, as Chief Operating Officer. Jürg Rötheli will continue to preside over Accarda's Board of Directors.

Accarda is market leader in customer cards with payment and credit functions and electronic gift cards in Switzerland. Accarda has set itself the goal of expanding its business activities in the areas of billing services, payment collection and card-based payment systems in Switzerland and other European markets. Billag AG, which becomes a fully owned subsidiary of Accarda as of 1 September 2005, has been involved in an ongoing bid against its competitors to win the renewal of its mandate to collect radio and television licence fees for another seven years.

Urs Eng is 44 years old, married, and the father of two boys. He is a qualified electrical engineer with a degree from the Federal Institute of Technology ETH and holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from the IMD Business School in Lausanne. Before joining Billag, Eng served as the overall project manager of Swisscom's Expo.02 activities. Prior to that, he worked at Ascom for eight years in various management functions.
