Swisscom Fixnet cuts prices again

02 September 2005

On 1 October 2005 Swisscom Fixnet will be reducing its rates for calls from the fixed network to the Sunrise mobile network from CHF 0.55 to CHF 0.49 and from CHF 0.45 to CHF 0.39 respectively. Swisscom Fixnet is thus passing on Sunrise"s reduced termination charges to its customers.

The termination charge is the fee that other telecommunications providers like Swisscom Fixnet have to pay for calls that terminate on a mobile network.

Back in July, Swisscom Fixnet lowered its charges for calls from the fixed network to the Swisscom Mobile network to CHF 0.41 per minute standard rate and CHF 0.31 per minute off-peak rate (previously CHF 0.55 and CHF 0.45 respectively). Now that Sunrise has also reduced its termination charges - albeit to a lesser extent than Swisscom Mobile - from 1 October 2005 Swisscom Fixnet will be reducing its charges per minute to CHF 0.49 (down from CHF 0.55) standard rate and CHF 0.39 (down from CHF 0.45) off-peak rate. The standard rate applies Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; the off-peak rate Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., as well as at weekends and on general public holidays.

Swisscom Fixnet is not making any adjustment to its prices for calls to the mobile networks of Orange and Tele2, as their termination charges  remain high.
