Cantonal Bank of Fribourg places order with Swisscom IT Services

02 December 2005

The trend towards standardised complete banking IT solutions offered by Swiss providers is continuing: the Cantonal Bank of Fribourg is switching to the Finnova banking IT platform and has selected Swisscom IT Services as general contractor.

The Cantonal Bank of Fribourg (BCF) has decided to implement a new complete banking solution. From spring 2007 it will employ the Finnova software, a tried-and-tested, highly standardised Swiss banking IT platform from Finnova AG Bankware in Lenzburg.

The Cantonal Bank of Fribourg has commissioned Swisscom IT Services (SCIS) as general contractor for the integration. Under the terms of its mandate, SCIS will provide the following services: data migration, creation of interfaces with existing peripheral systems, integration of the entire platform at the Cantonal Bank of Fribourg and operation of the platform in its computing centre (hosting and application management).

Swisscom IT Services will also continue to look after the BCF office infrastructure (workstation support). The existing contract is to be extended by a further four years.

Swisscom IT Services won the order after an intensive and in-depth evaluation process. Following on from the eleven ESPRIT banks and the four cantonal banks (Glarus, Obwalden and Nidwalden, Appenzell), BCF now becomes the sixteenth bank to implement Finnova's Swiss complete banking solution and entrust Swisscom IT Services with its operation.

As of 1 January 2006, Swisscom IT Services is to merge its Financial Services business line with Comit AG. Comit is a subsidiary of Swisscom IT Services Ltd. The contracts will be transferred to the new company.
