Press release

Higher speeds for Bluewin ADSL

13 January 2006

From mid-March onwards, new Bluewin customers at Swisscom Fixnet will enjoy higher broadband speeds for the same price. Customers can choose between maximum speeds of 2000/100, 3500/300 and 5000/300 kbit/s. This change reflects the market demand for higher bandwidths and has been made possible by the further expansion of the Swisscom network.

New subscribers will automatically benefit from the faster offerings from mid-March onwards. The profiles of existing Bluewin ADSL customers will all be adjusted by the end of June 2006. The only offering unaffected by the change is Bluewin ADSL 150/50, which will continue in its current form.

Actual speed is dependent on cable length

The new speeds are maximum values, in other words the stated maximum speed available to customers with a given subscription type. The actual speed is dependent on the length of the copper cable (to the home) and on the in-house installation and may well be lower than the stated speed. The maximum available speed for any given connection can be checked on the Bluewin portal from mid-March onwards.
