Swisscom IT Services partners Google

15 February 2006

Swisscom IT Services has become Switzerland's first Google partner for business customers. The two companies signed a partnership agreement for the Enterprise Professional Program at the beginning of 2006. Under the terms of the agreement Swisscom IT Services will be providing a comprehensive portfolio of services, ranging from system integration to hosting, for the Google Enterprise Search Appliance: the new business product from the world's most popular Internet search engine.

The partnership combines the technology of the world's most widely-used search engine with the ICT know-how of Swisscom IT Services for business applications. The Google Search Appliance offers companies the same technology on which Google's award-winning Internet search engine is based. The vast volume of data and documents on the Internet and corporate intranets can be called up in any language with one mouse click, providing employees, partners or customers with fast, simple access to company information. Sophisticated security functions ensure that users can only view documents that they are authorised to access. The Google Search Appliance is quick and easy to implement and, because it entails minimal administrative outlay, is highly cost-efficient.

"By offering the Google Search Appliance, we can provide our customers with the same user-friendly, efficient search quality to which they are accustomed from," says Beat Häberli, Head of Product Management at Swisscom IT Services.

David Chalmers, Program Manager of Google Enterprise Professional, adds: "In Swisscom IT Services we have selected a leading provider of forward-looking ICT services in Switzerland. It's an ideal combination of technology, security and the innovative ICT services of Swisscom IT Services."
