IT for the financial sector: Comit scores further successes

07 July 2006

The cantonal banks of St. Gallen (SGKB) and Thurgau (TKB) have selected Comit, a subsidiary of Swisscom IT Services, as their primary IT outsourcing partner. This further reinforces Comit's leading position as a provider of IT services to the financial sector.

As primary partner, Comit will be responsible for operation of the new Avaloq banking platform and maintenance of selected existing peripheral systems. The outsourcing agreements signed with both banks will run until the end of 2012. The solution selected by the two cantonal banks leverages substantial synergies in terms of operating costs. The project plan envisages the new platform going live at Hyposwiss (a private bank belonging to the SGKB) at the beginning of 2007, at the SGKB in early 2008, and at the TKB in mid-2008.

Successful start for "new" Comit

In recent months Comit has won several migration projects for the Avaloq and Finnova banking platforms, and signed outsourcing agreements with the cantonal banks of Fribourg and Lucerne. This latest success allows Comit to extend its application management and infrastructure services to the SGKB and the TKB.

Comit has been a subsidiary of Swisscom IT Services since early 2006 and is responsible for the marketing and extended operation of application management and infrastructure services as well as providing support to banks along the entire added value chain. A specialist provider of IT services for the financial sector, Comit has a 400-strong workforce and a network of local support teams in all regions of Switzerland.
