Mobile internet access is easy with Unlimited Laptops

Berne, 28 July 2006

Unlimited Laptops have integrated mobile technologies and SIM card. Users have internet access over the Swisscom Mobile network at the touch of a button, with the fastest connection selected automatically. Swisscom is working closely with computer manufacturers Acer and Fujitsu Siemens, and now also with Lenovo.

All Unlimited Laptops have integrated HSDPA / UMTS / EDGE / GPRS and WLAN technology. With a SIM card and the Mobile Unlimited software from Swisscom Mobile, users can go online at the touch of a button. Mobile Unlimited selects the fastest technology available and if necessary switches uninterruptedly from one to another. Users have access to their e-mail, address book, diary, company data and the internet, wherever they are.

The Acer Aspire 5652 Unlimited Laptop is now available in the shops. Prices start at CHF 1,999 (with a data subscription), available at Interdiscount. The Acer Travelmate 4260 model is distributed exclusively through IT partners.

Fujitsu Siemens is launching two models in the LIFEBOOK range in August as Unlimited Laptops. The LIFEBOOK E8210 starts at CHF 2,099 (with data subscription) and the LIFEBOOK Q2010 starts at CHF 6,848 (with data subscription). Fujitsu Siemens products are available from specialist retailers such as Bison, Bechtle, Baggenstos and Panatronic.
Starting this autumn, Lenovo will also be offering selected models from the latest generation of ThinkPads (T60, T60p, X60, X60s, Z61m and R60) as Unlimited Laptops. These will be available to corporate customers on special terms.

All Unlimited Laptops support the HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) dataturbo. The network currently covers Berne, Geneva and Zurich; Lausanne, Basel, Lucerne, Zug, St. Gallen, Lugano, Davos and St. Moritz will be covered by the end of the year. The data rate of up to 1.8 Mbps enabled by HDSPA is equivalent to the speed enjoyed by customers at WLAN hotspots. HSDPA-enabled mobile phones are scheduled to be available from Q4 2006.
