Press release

Swisscom to deliver the pictures from UEFA EURO 2008

Berne, 14 November 2007

Around 150 million viewers watched every match on television during the last UEFA European Football Championship in Portugal - and there is no reason to expect a drop in numbers for 2008. To enable the televised pictures to be broadcast worldwide, Swisscom Broadcast will guarantee transmission of the pictures from the UEFA EURO 2008 stadia in Switzerland and Austria to UEFA's International Broadcast Centre in Vienna. Swisscom and UEFA have already signed the contract.

As part of its involvement in UEFA EURO 2008TM, Swisscom will be responsible for the transmission network for delivery of the pictures. Swisscom Broadcast will transmit the television signals received from the four Swiss and four Austrian stadia to the UEFA International Broadcast Centre in Vienna. From there, they will be broadcast all over the world. The contract includes all the management as well as monitoring of the quality of the signal transmission. The signals will be transported in Switzerland via the Swisscom Fixnet network, which will also be expanded for UEFA EURO 2008TM in order to guarantee service and product performance. Network services in Austria will be provided by UEFA's Austrian partner.

As the official telecommunications equipment supplier to UEFA EURO 2008TM, Swisscom will provide the voice and data networks at the match venues and be responsible for their availability. Swisscom will be represented as one of four national supporters in the official fan zones in Switzerland.
