Focus on customer service: Swisscom launches new on-site service

Effective immediately, Swisscom offers customers in Switzerland a new home service: the HomeServiceTeam is a service and support organisation for PCs, Internet and multimedia. As well as assisting customers in the purchase and installation of hardware and software, the service specialists rectify faults and provide individual on-site training. The new service is also available to non-Swisscom customers and is billed at fixed rates.

Typically, when people buy home computers, they set them up, use them and forget all about maintenance. They neglect to carry out regular data backups, virus programs become outdated and useful configurations of new hardware is ignored. The reason is usually lack of time or uncertainty on the part of the user. As a result, problems are bound to arise. To avoid problems, or prevent them altogether, people can now commission the Swisscom HomeServiceTeam. A specialist visits the customer at home, installs, configures and delivers the hardware and software, and on request will provide individual instruction if the customer wishes to try out something new.

How the Swisscom HomeServiceTeam

The customer contacts the toll-free hotline 0800 800 800, explains his need or problem, and an appointment is then arranged. The HomeServiceTeam also operates outside normal working hours, making it ideal for customers working full time. Service times on weekdays are from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. "With our HomeServiceTeam, we are adding a further valuable component to our customer service offering. We are honouring our promise of being there for our customers by offering them an attractive on-site service. We are also demonstrating our flexibility and competence," says Christian Petit, Head of Residential Customers at Swisscom Switzerland.

Installation, support and training for a fixed price

With the HomeServiceTeam, there are no unpleasant price surprises. All standard services are offered at a fixed price. In the case of individual orders, the price is agreed in advance with the customer. The offerings include, for example, a security check. For a flat fee of CHF 249, the specialist removes viruses, Trojan horses and other undesirable programs and also checks and optimises security settings on PCs and WLANs. On request, he will also install virus protection software.
