Swisscom launched its new, uniform visual identity in February 2008. The Swisscom umbrella brand is now used in place of the previous Swisscom sub-brands (Fixnet, Mobile, Solutions and IT Services) . Company vehicles, Shops, buildings and the website have gradually been adapted in line with the new visual identity. Bluewin will continue to remain as a product brand, as well as on the online portal www.bluewin.ch and e-mail addresses @bluewin.ch and @bluemail.ch. As part of the logo change, the interior of the building has also been adapted in line with the new Swisscom identity. So for example the foyer and the social area on the 15th floor have been re-designed with a new colour, layout and lighting concept.
With "the blue window", Telecom PTT, as it was then called, was breaking into apparently risky, unchartered territory when the company decided to expand its area of activity to new technologies in the mid 1990s. Only two years after launching its first Internet offerings, "the blue window" already boasted over 150,000 Internet subscribers. The next chapter of the success story of "the blue window" continued under the new name Bluewin from 1996. In 2000 the Bluewin Tower became a key location in Zurich's industrial quarter and also benefited from the dynamism in this area of the city. Some 400 employees work on developing new products for Internet and multimedia on this site. These include Bluewin TV, www.bluewin.ch, Switzerland's most visited online portal, as well as various Internet access offerings. 1.3 million residential customers currently use Swisscom's Internet services, and some 100,000 use Bluewin TV.
With 3,500 employees at 35 locations, Swisscom is one of Zurich's most important employers. Several hundred employees are based a stone's throw away from the tower at Swisscom IT Services. Furthermore, Zurich is the main site of Swisscom's corporate customer business and the national network management centre is also located there.
